Age Requirements for Preschool & K
  • Preschool, children must be at least 2.9 years by September 1 and potty trained. 
  • Kindergartners must be 5 by September 1.

MCA welcomes all families. There are no geographic boundaries or religious requirements. We serve families from New York City and the tri-state area, representing many denominations.

Requirements for Grades 1 to 8
  • Placement Testing Grades 1-8
  • Grade-level readiness assessment in reading, mathematics, and writing
  • Standardized test results from previous year, if available
  • Birth Certificate
  • Immunization Record
  • IEP, if applicable
  • Passing Report Card from Prior School Year
  • Interview for Candidates for Grades 6-8

Accessible & Diverse

While we serve families with a wide range of incomes, over 40% of our children come from households that meet low-income guidelines. Generous donors keep tuition much lower than the $6,800 average cost per child. In addition, we annually grant up to $375,000 in financial aid. 

Over 95% of our student body is Latino, Caribbean, or African American.

Location

We are located at 205th Street and Ninth Avenue in Manhattan's Washington Heights/Inwood neighborhood.

Free School Bus or Public Transportation
  • In Manhattan, there is a school bus making stops along Broadway north from 135th Street.
  • Alternatively, children in grades K-8 may qualify for a Student MetroCard for use on the MTA. MCA is accessible by Subway Lines 1 and A, Bronx Fordham Road BX12 Select Bus Service and other surface lines.

Academic Ability

The Academic Program at MCA is designed to challenge all students to think well and to work hard in preparation for high school and college entrance. English language proficiency is required.

Behavior

We believe a child's education is enhanced by a creative, disciplined and orderly environment. We expect our students to reflect order in their appearance as expressed in our Dress Code and in social and academic interactions. We vigorously promote the Biblical virtues of kindness, reconciliation, politeness, respect, and self-discipline.

  • For Grades 1-8
    • Placement Test ($35 testing fee)
    • Student Interview
  • Submit Financial Aid Application, if applicable
  • Admissions file completed by submitting all required documents
  • Admissions Committee reviews Candidate File
  • Admissions Committee decision
    • Accepted / Denied / Waiting Pool
  • $325 Non-Refundable Registration Fee secures enrollment placement
