The dance ensemble was started in 2016, as an experimental professional development performing arts program to develop MCA students in the area of discipline, artistic freedom and community outreach to the tri-state community. Students in the 3rd-8th grades audition to take part. From there they are trained to do various dance disciplines, for ex., lyrical dancing, hip hop and South African Zulu and Gumboots.
In such a short time since the ensemble’s development, outside of performing in the school, they have been invited by the Children’s Scholarship Fund to perform for the National School Choice Week and the fundraiser for the Children’s Scholarship Fund. They’ve been featured on national television and are proud to announce the National CARES Mentoring Movement has invited them to perform at their 2020 gala on Feb. 10th.
This program has been under the direction of professional dancer and choreographer Michael Forde.
